H2: Celebrity IOU returns with hands-on stars

HGTV is serving up five new episodes of Celebrity IOU this holiday season, and the Property Brothers — Drew and Jonathan Scott — say the latest batch is full of warm stories and hands-on celebrity guests. The new slate includes John Stamos, Eva Longoria, Mario Lopez, Ike Barinholtz and William Shatner helping renovate homes for people who changed their lives.

H3: John Stamos helps rebuild a friend’s music space

The run kicks off Dec. 28 with John Stamos partnering with the Scotts to transform the garage and patio of his best friend Ken’s childhood home. The goal: create a modern music room and gathering spot to inspire Ken to play again after pausing music following his father’s death. The renovation includes tearing down the old garage to build a larger room, a portable stage and a new drum set.

Drew and Jonathan praised Stamos for being genuine, playful and very involved. Jonathan joked about bonding with “a fellow nerdy magician” and said Stamos didn’t shy away from demolition — though Drew recalled a tense moment when he accidentally touched Stamos’ hair and expected a reaction.

H3: Stars swing sledgehammers — even Captain Kirk

William Shatner, at 93, surprised the crew by grabbing a sledgehammer and joining demolition duties. Eva Longoria proved herself hands-on and decisive — Jonathan playfully called her “bossy” in the best way — while Mario Lopez tackled tasks for his friend’s home, getting fully involved despite it being his first major renovation.

H2: Don’t Hate Your House — tough love and practical fixes

The Scotts also previewed the next season of Don’t Hate Your House, airing Dec. 29. They say the show is increasingly relatable as homeowners face rising costs and friction in their living spaces. Expect frank conversations and “tough love” from the brothers — practical, no-nonsense fixes to help families fall in love with their homes again rather than sell and incur huge costs.

H3: Rebuilding Zooey Deschanel’s childhood home

Jonathan revealed he’s overseeing the rebuild of fiancée Zooey Deschanel’s childhood home, destroyed in wildfires. The plan uses RSG 3-D construction to make a fully fireproof, earthquake-proof and termite-proof structure with minimal wood framing. Jonathan noted this approach costs less than 30% more than traditional framing while offering far better long-term protection — a priority as extreme weather events rise.

H2: When and where to watch

Celebrity IOU premieres Dec. 28 at 9/8c on HGTV. Don’t Hate Your House returns Dec. 29 at 8/7c. Both shows highlight hands-on celebrity involvement, practical design choices and the Property Brothers’ blend of heart and hard-earned renovation know-how.
