TCU legend Bram Kohlhausen will take the field before the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio as the Horned Frogs’ Honorary Captain. Kohlhausen, who famously led TCU to a 2016 comeback win in the Alamo Bowl, will debut a custom pair of Air Jordan 1 Low Golf sneakers designed to fit his prosthetic legs.
Kohlhausen lost both legs in a hunting accident in 2023. The custom Jordan 1 Low Golf pair was engineered with those needs in mind and will be on display before he brings them to the golf course.
Nike design meets custom sneaker artistry
Veteran Nike designer Tobie Hatfield — brother of Tinker Hatfield and a longtime innovator in adaptive footwear — helped adapt the Jordan 1 Low Golf for Kohlhausen. Hatfield’s team analyzed Kohlhausen’s golf swing to identify where extra support and reinforcement were needed to better interface with his prosthetics.
Key technical changes include a reinforced toecap inspired by anti-creasing sneaker inserts and targeted support points tailored to Kohlhausen’s stance and swing. After the functional rework in Beaverton, the pair went to Miles Custom Studio for a visual remix that includes personalized graphics honoring Kohlhausen’s recovery.
