• Neural DSP has launched the Quad Cortex Mini, a 50% smaller version of its flagship amp modeller.
  • The Mini keeps the Quad Cortex processing, Neural Capture V1/V2 and a 7″ touchscreen with four rotary footswitches.
  • Specs include 90+ amps, 100+ effects, 1,000+ IRs, locking power connector, full I/O and CorOS 4.0 software.
  • The unit is available now at €1,299 and integrates with the Quad Cortex ecosystem.

What the Quad Cortex Mini is

Neural DSP’s Quad Cortex Mini brings the full sound and processing architecture of the original Quad Cortex into a compact chassis aimed at pedalboards, desktop studios and small rigs. Measuring 22.8 x 11.8 x 6.5 cm and weighing 1.5 kg, the Mini claims to be 50% smaller while retaining the same machine‑learning modelling and studio‑grade audio quality that defined the flagship unit.

Design and controls

The Mini is centered on a 7″ touchscreen and four stainless‑steel rotary footswitches that provide hands‑on control in both live and studio settings. Neural DSP also implements a Focus system for fast parameter tweaks with the footswitches, a Pages system to expand footswitch functions without more hardware, and a Gig View for performance‑focused navigation.

“A more compact form without compromise,” Neural DSP says — the company kept the same processing depth and Neural Capture technology used to create ultra‑accurate digital replicas of amps, cabs, pedals and compressors.

Key features and connectivity

  • Neural Capture V1 and V2 support for capturing amps, cabs and pedals
  • Library: 90+ amps, 100+ effects, 1,000+ IRs and 2,000+ community Captures via Cortex Cloud
  • Instrument/mic combo input with phantom power
  • Balanced XLR outputs, stereo send/return (TRS), MIDI over TRS and USB‑C
  • Headphone output for silent practice and a locking power connector for secure live use

The Mini also lets users move presets and system backups between a full‑size Quad Cortex and the Mini, so players can keep setups consistent across devices.

Software: CorOS 4.0

Neural DSP has launched CorOS 4.0 alongside the Mini. The update adds a suite of reverbs and a new Phase Doctor utility to align signals in stereo rigs and multi‑amp setups, improving workflow and tone management for intricate live or studio chains.

Price, availability and verdict

The Quad Cortex Mini is available now, priced at €1,299. Neural DSP positions the unit as a pro‑level, portable alternative for guitarists who need flagship modelling and capture tech without the footprint of a full console. If you already own a Quad Cortex, the Mini fits neatly into the same ecosystem; if you’re building a compact rig, it promises studio‑grade tone and comprehensive I/O in a pedalboard‑friendly package.
