What is the Big Bash?
Jack Daniel’s New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash is a free, downtown celebration at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park featuring live music, fireworks and Music City’s signature Music Note Drop. The event draws large crowds — organizers expect roughly 250,000 attendees — and will be broadcast on CBS.
Event schedule
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Local programming begins with DJ Case Bloom at 5:30 p.m., followed by emcee remarks and house music. The televised portion runs from 7:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with headliners Lainey Wilson, Jason Aldean and Bailey Zimmerman. The countdown and Music Note Drop start at 11:55 p.m., followed by a 90-second fireworks display at midnight. The live broadcast and event conclude at 12:30 a.m.
Broadcast
CBS will carry the headliner performances and the midnight countdown. Arrive early if you want a spot near the stage; gates can fill quickly.
Entry rules: what you can and cannot bring
Permitted items include clear bags no larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″, small non-transparent wallets (up to 4.5″ x 6.5″) and personal cameras. Banned items include weapons, backpacks, coolers, outside alcohol (only official vendors sell drinks on-site), illegal substances, fireworks, laser pointers and pets (service animals allowed). Expect metal-detector screening and fenced perimeters at entrances.
Parking, rideshare and public transit
Organizers ask attendees to use rideshare or public transit when possible. Designated rideshare/taxi pickup and drop-off zones include sections of James Robertson Parkway, Rosa L. Parks Boulevard and Jefferson Street. A rideshare staging area is available near 10th Circle North (space not guaranteed). WeGo will run a dedicated shuttle between Broadway and Bicentennial Mall every 10 minutes from 6:15 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.; stops include Broadway in front of Hume-Fogg and Bicentennial Mall on James Robertson Parkway.
Road closures and timeline
Closures and parking restrictions began in mid-December to allow set-up. Multiple streets, parking lanes and sidewalks around Bicentennial Mall will remain closed through dates between Jan. 1 and Jan. 6 depending on the block. If you plan to drive, check the Visit Music City event page for the full list of closures and reopening dates.
Security and safety
Organizers say roughly 500 security personnel — private staff plus Metro PD — will staff the event. Fencing, magnetometer checks and multiple controlled entrances will be in place. Attendees are advised to dress warmly, keep personal belongings minimal, and follow instructions from event staff and law enforcement.
